One of the most maddening aspects of film festival-going is the overwhelming feeling that you've just missed some incredible film that all your friends are talking about, either because you couldn't quite fit something into your schedule or because some little gem has come out of nowhere to capture its audience. At this year's Sundance Film Festival, I regretted missing one film more than any other (even the big names I had to skip, like MY IDIOT BROTHER and RED STATE). That film was SOUND OF MY VOICE.

Our own Allison Loring reviewed the film (check it out HERE) and interviewed co-writer/director Zal Batmanglij (check that one out HERE). Allison couldn't stop talking about the film - a project that follows a couple who, in attempting to prove that a mysterious cult and its captivating leader are a fraud, fall under the sway and spell they seek to dispel. Starring Brit Marling as the magnetic leader Maggie, the film got rave reviews at Sundance, and I all but kicked myself for missing it. I can stop kicking - as SOUND OF MY VOICE will be playing at this year's SXSW. And, do trust I've worked it into my schedule this time.

After the break, check out a clip from SOUND OF MY VOICE, a scary little slice that shows us our cult-seeking couple in their first moments on the inside.

SOUND OF MY VOICE screens on March 11 at 9:00PM at the State Theatre, March 13 at 11:30AM at Alamo Lamar, and March 19 at 9:30PM at Alamo Ritz.
