SXSW 2011 EXCLUSIVE: First poster and trailer for Clay Liford’s WUSS
SXSW is just around the corner, so we here at GATW will be educating you on many of movies that will be debuting at the 2011 festival. Over the weekend, writer/director Clay Liford sent me the first poster and trailer for his latest flick, WUSS, which will be having its world premiere at SXSW in just a few weeks.
WUSS is about a teacher who is, you guessed it, a sissy. Nate Rubin (MY MOM SMOKES WEED, BLOOD ON THE HIGHWAY) stars as Mitch, bullied high school teacher by day, beaten high school teacher by night. Fed up with getting his ass kicked all the time, he teams up with rebellious student Maddie (Alicia Anthony), where they fight back and attempt to turn the bullies into the bullied.
I initially thought WUSS was aiming for pure, uncut comedy, but this trailer shows otherwise. Liford has a strange sense of humor (check out his awesome short, MY MOM SMOKES WEED), so now I'm thinking WUSS has something gritty up its sleeve.
The poster was illustrated by Nick Derington and designed by Yen Ten; bravo to these two for making one of the most attractive posters spotlighting a beaten and unattractive character.
Both the poster and trailer can be seen after the break. Look for more coverage on WUSS in the coming weeks!
