SXSW 2011 Video Interview: SOURCE CODE actor Jake Gyllenhaal and director Duncan Jones
When both you and Jake Gyllenhaal wear a similar shirt to your interview, then you know a few things are certain: one being that you have some kind of justification in your sense of fashion, which is always encouraging to discover (as if it were some kind of Us Weekly "They're Just Like Us!" feature come to life). The other being that there's going to be an initial speed bump of awkwardness that you're going to have to just go over.
From that first hump, the car swerved all over the road so to speak. From BUBBLE BOY to Duncan Jones' sick sense of humor to why Abraham Lincoln wore his particular stovepipe-shaped hat of choice (and the greater question of what the actor and director would do given the chance to actually use the Source Code technology), this is, as Mr. Gyllenhaal notes, "a very interesting conversation."
A very interesting conversation indeed, that also includes discussions of making a film that's a Quantum Leap to The Twilight Zone with Hitchcock as your tour guide. Check it out after the break. Hey, it's only 8 minutes long...you can watch it again and again and again!
