The possibility of an edition of Roman Polanski's classic thriller, ROSEMARY'S BABY, released by The Criterion Collection has been rumored for ages. The film seemed destined for Criterion (KNIFE IN THE WATER, CUL-DE-SAC, and, his best film in my eyes, REPULSION, have hit home video via the mighty C) and due to one of their ever-great "wacky drawings," looks to be made available soon.
There are three trilogies that I feel need to be on Blu-ray, but unfortunately have not made the HD jump yet. These trilogies happen to be STAR WARS, INDIANA JONES, and BACK TO THE FUTURE. I'm sure Merian C. Cooper would be very happy if he got wind that his cinematic masterpiece was getting the Blu-ray treatment, at least half as happy as I am about it. The original 1933 version of KING KONG will finally follow the footsteps of it's 2005 brother and will have an HD home release brought over from Skull Island, most likely by way of boat. This week brings us the release of a SXSW favorite of mine, OBSERVE AND REPORT, as well as the animated sci-fi epic BATTLE FOR TERRA, two STAR TREK collections, Rob Zombie's animated effort SUPERBEASTO, as well as both SHAUN OF THE DEAD and HOT FUZZ (SPECIAL EDITION) on Blu-ray.
