Despite receiving lackluster reviews for his latest film, HARA-KIRI: DEATH OF A SAMURAI, no one is challenging the fact that there are very few filmmakers who are as talented, and prolific, as one Takeshi Miike.

This is apparently going to be proven once again, as according to an interview with The Huffington Post, the director recently revealed that he will be helming a courtroom drama that will be based around a Nintendo DS Game. Speculation has gone rampant, as people have begun postulating that the film in question is none other than an adaptation of the hit DS game, Ace Attorney.

The game series is a point-and-click adventure/crime series based in a courtroom, and is one of the more entertaining franchises that the DS has to offer. It’s got a really fun sense of humor, something that Miike is quite keen on adding to his films.

Personally, while I’m not a huge fan of the aforementioned samurai drama, Miike is far and away one of the most interesting filmmakers around, and this should be one hell of an intriguing step forward for the filmmaker. Stepping out of his comfort zone, this drama will be quite a compelling project to watch come to fruition. What do you think?
