Teaser for Bela Tarr’s TURIN HORSE features a lantern, nothing more
Apparently Bela Tarr even likes long continuous takes in trailers.
The Hungarian auteur has seen the release of a teaser trailer (or whatever its arthouse equivalent is) for what has been proclaimed as the director’s final film, THE TURIN HORSE, and apparently, the director won’t be going out on a straightforward note (thanks to The Playlist for digging this trailer up).
Featuring nothing more than some creepy ass organ music playing in the background, the teaser is literally a long shot of a lantern, and that’s about it.
Despite the fact that this teaser may ultimately turn people off of the film, the film does have a ton going for it. Following the story of a farmer and his daughter, the film finds our leads and their lives “compromised when their work horse becomes ill.” Known for elaborately long continuous takes, Bela Tarr is one of the film world’s most interesting foreign filmmakers, and one that doesn’t get the love that a director like Tarr truly should.
The film premieres at the Berlin Film Festival on Tuesday. What do you think?
