Teaser for THE IRON LADY is a bit underwhelming

With awards season still months away, films are beginning to push their way forward leading up to their release. This year may prove interesting as two of those films are not only lead by women, but see their leads taking on iconic entities in the star role.

Along with someone like Michelle Williams, who is next seen in MY WEEK WITH MARILYN as the blonde bombshell herself Marilyn Monroe, Meryl Streep is making her seemingly annual push, this year with a film entitled THE IRON LADY. Following the rise of the UK’s first female Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, the film is one that has been buzzed about for some time now as a possible award winner for the titan of an actress.

However, if this newly released teaser is to be believed, we may have to hold onto Oscar for just a bit longer.

The Guardian has the teaser (via The Playlist), and while it is just that, a teaser, THE IRON LADY has been done no service by this absolutely garbage teaser. Streep’s performance seems shrill and overbearing, while the premise of the teaser itself is basic reveal stuff. We the public have seen Streep as Tatcher. Give us something else to really chew on. Overall, it’s just a poor piece of promotional material. That said, I love the use of Clint Mansell’s MOON score, and I’m still very much looking forward to this film.
