Teaser trailer for COLOMBIANA hits
So, with rights holding back any sort of sequel to the Luc Besson film, THE PROFESSIONAL (despite the fact that a script is actually complete), the closest thing that we fans of that type of narrative can get is what we’ve just gotten a trailer for, the Olivier Megaton-directed COLOMBIANA.
Basically a direct rip-off of a potential PROFESSIONAL sequel, the film follows the story of Cataleya Restrepo who, after the death of her parents, goes out looking for revenge. Starring Zoe Saldana, the film will be hitting on September 2.
As a fan of the films from the Besson crew, including Megaton, I do think that this trailer looks a bit compelling, despite the fact that it’s as cliché as all hell. From the story to the film’s characters, there is not a single original bone in this damn thing’s body, but given how good Saldana looks in the film’s lead role both physically and within the actual action choreography, this could be quite a fun little bit of summer action filmmaking.
