THE AVENGERS to have 135 minute runtime
THE AVENGERS is right around the corner, and excitement is at an all-time high. This is actually proven, as the film has already broken a record. This is going to be a big movie, definitely the biggest of Marvel's movies, but will it be the longest?
We now have word from the director Joss Whedon himself that the runtime will be 135 minutes, making it officially the longest marvel film yet.
To be perfectly honest, it is only about ten minutes longer than the majority of the past films, which are around 125 minutes, but it is kind of their magnum opus, so it makes a lot of sense. I've never been bothered by the length of these runtimes, so I'm excited that THE AVENGERS will clock in slightly longer. Especially since the original cut was about three hours long, they definitely made some major cuts.
Whedon also went on to say that the theatrical version is his directors cut, and that they will not release a longer version later, which is nice. I always hate when I buy a film on Bluray, only for it to get a directors cut a few months later. As long as they include the extra footage as deleted scenes, I'm sold.
THE AVENGERS fight their way into theaters on May 4th.
