I guess THE COMPANY MEN has gotten hired after all, as TWC has picked up the film for U.S. distribution rights. This comes two months after the film's premiere at the Sundance Film Festival this past January. It is being reported that the film will likely reach theaters sometime in late summer or early fall of this year.

THE COMPANY MEN, from producer turned director John Wells (I'M NOT THERE), stars Ben Affleck as a corporate suit who finds himself out of the job and struggling to keep himself and his family afloat during hard economic times. The film also stars Chris Cooper, Kevin Costner, Tommy Lee Jones and Maria Bello. I overheard many Sundancers described it as a somewhat rebuttal to UP IN THE AIR.

In other news, the Weinstein Co. has set a definite release date for their another one of their Sundance acquisitions, and my personal favorite of the fest, BLUE VALENTINE. The film will hit theaters later this year on December 31st, making it the Weinstein's hopeful home run for next year's Academy Awards.

BLUE VALENTINE, starring Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams, tells the somber tale of a married couple's beginning and end. The film, from writer/director Derek Cianfrance, is a raw and beautiful look at love and love lost, told through a unique non-linear structure. This one is hard on the heart but strikes right to the soul of relationships at their best and worst. You can check out Chase's review of the film HERE, and our in-depth, hour long interview with Cinafrance from Sundance HERE

TWC's third acquisition from Sundance, the documentary THE TILLMAN STORY, gets a limited release August 20th.
