Apple has just released three trailers for two films starring a girl. The first trailer is for THE EXPLODING GIRL, starring Zoe Kazan as a young woman struggling with damaged love and epilepsy. Her love life goes for a spin when her friend, Al (Mark Rendall), stays with her for a while. This played last year at the Berlin Film Festival and Zoe won best actress for EXPLODING GIRL at the Tribeca Film Festival. Zoe has had bit parts in some recent films (REVOLUTIONARY ROAD, ME AND ORSON WELLES and Josh Radnor's HAPPYTHANKYOUMOREPLEASE) but keep an eye on her, I have a feeling she's going to be everywhere soon. THE EXPLODING GIRL has a limited release on March 12.

Our next two trailers go to THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO, or if you live in Sweden, MEN WHO HATE WOMEN (an intense change from its U.S. title). I honestly don't know much about this, other than it's part one of a trilogy, and is based off of novels written by the late Swedish author and journalist Stieg Larsson (who passed away in 2004 and left these books unpublished). From what I've collected, it's a murder mystery involving a girl with a dragon tattoo who looks like Trinity from THE MATRIX and she teams up with a journalist to solve a murder that happened 40 years ago. The other books in the trilogy are called: THE GIRL WHO PLAYED WITH FIRE, and THE GIRL WHO KICKED THE HORNET'S NEST. All three films have been released overseas. THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO opens in the U.S. on March 19th.
