“The Fire Nation is Coming” in this THE LAST AIRBENDER clip
The lead up to a good war scene is almost as important as the war itself. If we may, let's remember such epic war moments as the boat ride before SAVING PRIVATE RYAN's infamous beach storm scene, Mel Gibson's speech from BRAVEHEART, and the countless moments before's in the LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy. Intensity is running high, it reaches a peak and then, almost without warning, the epic battle begins! Well today CinemaBlend has given us our first look at this moment in THE LAST AIRBENDER. Check it out after the break.
For those of you who watched the show, you'll recognize that Shyamalan has pulled a Zack Snyder here and remade this scene almost frame-for-frame. I wouldn't be at all surprised if before this snippet, we saw Appa and Momo catching "black snowflakes" (which is actually soot from the Fire Nation ships) on their tongues. Many look down on frame-for-frames, but if the sequence you're recreating is already great, why change it?
This scene takes place in the third act of the film and the following scenes are some of the best moments of Season 1. As most new footage does, this gets me more excited to see the movie (which hits theaters July 2nd). What about you, readers? Thoughts?
