THE GOONIES celebrates 25th anniversary
"Goonies never say die! " So of course, we have to take time to acknowledge that today marks the 25th anniversary of THE GOONIES theatrical release in the U.S. The tale of a gang of misfits who are in search of a missing pirate ship and its treasures holds has a special place in the hearts and imaginations of most kids who were alive in the '80s. They just don't make 'em like this anymore and it really is a shame.
THE GOONIES have descended on the town of Astoria, Oregon where the movie was filmed. On hand are Cory Feldman, Sean Astin, Jeff Cohen, Joe Pantoliano, and director Richard Donner, to name a few. The weekend's festivities included meet-and-greets with the some of the cast, costume contests, film site tours, a Truffle Shuffle 5K Run/Walk, and a performance by Corey Feldman's band Truth Movement.
"Hey, you guys," - check out People to catch up on "Five Things You Didn't Know About THE GOONIES." I knew four out of the five, with the exception of the planned GOONIES-based musical. That really needs to happen.
