THE HOBBIT casting news: Lee Pace is an elf, Dean O’Gorman is a dwarf, and Hugo Weaving is back
Two elves and a dwarf walk into a bar and the bartender says "Hey, aren't you Lee Pace, Dean O’Gorman, and Hugo Weaving?" and the trio replies in unison "Why, yes we are!" to which the bar keep responds by posing the question "Didn't you all just get cast as the Elven King Thrandruil, you as Fili the dwarf, and you returning as Elrond the Elven Lord in Peter Jackson's THE HOBBIT?" to which they exclaim (in unison) "Hells yeah, did you read that on Gordon and the Whale!?"
Jackson stated via his Facebook that Pace came to mind almost immediately when he set out to cast the role, and was a fan of the actor for his work in Tarsem Singh's THE FALL. As for O'Gorman, Jackson said he is "a terrific Kiwi actor, who I am thrilled to be working with."
Joining Weaving from the original cast is Sir Ian Holm as the older Bilbo Baggins, Sir Ian McKellen as Gandalf, Andy Serkis as Gollum, Orlando Bloom as Legolas, and Elijah Wood of course reprising his role as Frodo Baggins.
