THE KARATE KID remake reportedly tested great
Here is some positive news about the THE KARATE KID remake that probably won't make the many upset by the film's existence (myself included) feel any better about it. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Sony told them that their re-working of THE KARATE KID starring Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan received the second highest score in a research screening ever.
The romantic comedy HITCH starring Will Smith (that's right the guy that literally made the star of THE KARATE KID remake) has the highest research screening score of all-time. Not an epically great film, but it did get a fairly positive reception from the critics, and it has the respectable score of 69% on Rotten Tomatoes.
A pretty well-received film like HITCH being the number one all-time in test screening scores for Sony offers a reason to not completely disregard the THE KARATE KID remake getting the second highest score ever behind HITCH. Hey, the film may not be that bad after all, but I still doubt THE KARATE KID remake will come anywhere close to being as memorable or enjoyable as the original, and still feels completely unnecessary.
