“The Legend of Korra” cast list released
I jumped on the bandwagon of Nickelodeon’s hit series Avatar: The Last Airbender very late in the game. In fact, the series had been finished for several years at that point. When the end of the series was reached, I was still craving more. I dreamed and hoped for a sequel series for many months. Then last summer, they announced one. The Last Airbender: The Legend of Korra takes place 70 years after the original series with a new Avatar in place.
The cast of the original series was easily one of the most endearing factors of the show. Now we know who we can expect to voice the sequel.
The cast of the show is:
Janet Varney – KORRA
Kiernan Shipka – JINORA
Daniel Dae Kim – HIROSHI SATO
David Faustino – MAKO
Seychelle Gabriel – ASAMI
Lance Henriksen – LIEUTENANT
P.J. Byrne - BOLIN
JK Simmons - TENZIN
The casting of JK Simmons is really exciting for me, as he is playing the son of the original series protagonist, Aang. Tenzin will be the mentor of Korra as she is trying to learn how to control the air, the last element she has to learn. Other names of note are Daniel Dae Kim of Lost fame, David Faustino from Married With Children, and Lance Henriksen, who was in ALIEN.
The direction of the sequel series is also really interesting, as Korra already knows three of the four elements. The original series followed Aang as he has to learn three. This very well could lead to some really great action sequences, another strong point of the original series.
