There is a certain type of filmgoer who will always get a kick out of Jason Statham in an action flick. That type of filmgoer? People who like to have a damn good time. In a box office-scape that is filled more with comic book adaptations and big ensemble flicks that rely more on marquee draw than real guns and explosions, Statham continually picks projects that are straight-up actioners in the very best sense of the term.

Statham will be back on screen (and kicking butt) with Simon West’s remake of THE MECHANICE. West’s take on the Charles Bronson flick also boasts a pair of intriguing co-stars: Ben Foster and Donald Sutherland. The film sees Statham as “a mechanic – an elite assassin with a strict code and unique talent for cleanly eliminating targets.” As we all know, an assassin’s job hinges on their ability to stay stealth and stay unattached. But then Statham’s mentor is murdered and, well, all bets are off. And when that mentor’s son (Foster) wants to join the fight? Get ready for the blows to come fast and furious. Check out the new red band trailer for the film after the break!

THE MECHANIC opens on January 28.
