THE POLTERGEIST is a film that came just before my time, but in my circle of friends was built up like a legend. We talked about it in the same way that many people talk about THE EXORCIST. We all ended up watching it, and it certainly spooked us out.

Now the film is looking to do the same to a new generation of movie-goer. Last time Steven Spielberg was on as producer, this time we have Sam Raimi.

No director is on board just yet, but the news of Raimi's involvement also brings word of David Lindsay-Abaire being hired on as writer. This comes as little surprise, but is a really great combination. Abaire and Raimi have been working together a lot lately, and seem to be a good combination. Most recently, Abaire did a rewrite of Raimi's upcoming film OZ: THE GREAT AND POWERFUL.

THE POLTERGEIST is one of those films, I'm not sure really needed a remake. But with the team developing it, can you really get up in arms over it? They are extremely talented individuals, who are sure to put their all into making this version of the film something truly special.
