R.J. Cutler directed the critically well-received documentary THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE about Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. Now, R.J. Cutler has made official plans to direct his first non-documentary feature film, THE AU PAIRS, the deal is with Drew Barrymore's Flower Films and Alloy Entertainment.

THE AU PAIRS was originally a novel written by Melissa de la Cruz about the experiences three girls have when they all take summer jobs in the Hamptons as au pairs for a rich family. An au pair, as I learned from the immense greatness of Wikipedia , is a foreign-national domestic assistant that works and lives with a host family. The work centers around taking care of the family's children and household chores. Thank you, Wikipedia.

I must say, I'm getting a SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING PANTS feel from the project so far, but with America as the foreign land that the girls learn life lessons in.
