John Carpenter's THE THING has been running a lot on the movie channels lately. Maybe one of those premium cables were trying to give us a hint about the status of THE THING prequel that is been in pre-production for quite a while. Production Weekly (which I found via Joblo) is reporting that THE THING is set to start shooting in March, and will last until June in Toronto.

THE THING prequel is reportedly focusing on the camp that the man in the helicopter chasing the dog in the beginning film is from. This means that the prequel will probably play out a lot like THE THING, with the creature attacking and taking over the body of people in the camp with plenty of paranoia and hopefully cool special effects happening.
