Theatrical trailer for TRUE GRIT, new and improved with more grit and truth
Yahoo! Movies has just debuted the full theatrical trailer for the Coen Brothers’ TRUE GRIT and, aside from the irony of a website debuting a trailer that’s intended for a theater, it’s pretty breathtaking. And that’s saying a lot since the teaser and the teaser poster left us all pretty short of it.
The trailer is scored with a Johnny Cash track, a perfect musical pairing to the rusty as nails Rooster Cogburn (played by Jeff Bridges, reuniting with his BIG LEBOWSKI directors) and features a mustachioed Matt Damon doing his best Matthew McConaughey and a bear riding a horse.
If the Coen name or any of those other compelling qualities don’t want to make you watch this trailer, then there may just be no hope for you.
An adaptation of Charles Portis’ 1968 serial from The Saturday Evening Post, and pseudo-remake of the 1969 film starring John Wayne, TRUE GRIT stars Bridges as a bounty hunter and Damon as a Texas Ranger who pair together to help a young girl track down the man (Josh Brolin) who shot her pa. Or if she is in fact the human/animal hybrid daughter of that bear, the man who shot his “paw.”
