THR’s Directors Roundtable
The Hollywood Reporter’s annual Awards Roundtable series has commenced and, as a part of their Directors Roundtable, they gathered six of the biggest directors of 2009. Those included had some of the most highly anticipated and buzzed-about films of the year. At the table were Kathryn Bigelow (THE HURT LOCKER), James Cameron (AVATAR), Lee Daniels (PRECIOUS), Peter Jackson (THE LOVELY BONES), Jason Reitman (UP IN THE AIR), and Quentin Tarantino (INGLORIOUS BASTERDS).
These videos are a must-see for those who like interviews in a more relaxed and candid environment. It is obvious that they love what they do and there is a mutual respect and rapport that you don't get to see often. Some of the ideas they discuss we've heard before on public radio shows like "Fresh Air" or "The Treatment," but it is great to actually see them saying these things and to have the other directors interject or concur with the ideas presented. These videos will definitely leave you wanting more. The three topics discussed are the directors' feelings on their status in Hollywood (insider vs. outsider), toughest scenes to shoot, and what they would do if they weren't directors.
Head on over to THR to see the three videos, along with a transcription of the entire conversation as well as other fascinating roundtable discussions.
