Tina Fey to join Meryl Streep in Stanley Tucci’s MOMMY AND ME

Stanley Tucci and Meryl Streep is a pairing we've grown quite fond of over the years. The pair were a feast for the eyes as husband and wife in JULIE & JULIA, and they made quite a team in THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA. Besides both being phenomenal actors, you can tell that their onscreen chemistry is enhanced by a great friendship.

The new comedic film MOMMY & ME will see the pair's relationship changing. For the film, instead of playing a supporting role, Tucci would be stepping into the director's chair. The film focuses on the relationship between a mother and daughter. The film would see Tina Fey playing the role of Streep's daughter. This will be a great opportunity for us to see if Tina Fey can step up her acting game. She has gotten by playing characters largely like herself, but that probably won't do when you are working with someone who has something like 16 Academy Award nominations. Just saying.

The film has yet to be written but already it is gathering much buzz.  Fey and Streep are two of the hottest actresses at present, so hopefully this project will have no problem getting picked up. It's nice to see Streep going after comedic roles. Even though I didn't exactly love IT'S COMPLICATED, it was nice to see Meryl let her hair down.

Tucci hasn't directed a film since 2007's BLIND DATE. His other directorial features include JOE GOULD'S SECRET, THE IMPOSTERS, and BIG NIGHT. I have failed to see all four of these films. Tucci will also produce MOMMY AND ME with Steve Buscemi and Wren Athur.
