While he may have lost a bit of steam as a horror film director over the past few years, director Tobe Hooper may have finally found the film that will put him back on top of the genre that’s seen him give audiences two classics.

The POLTERGEIST and TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE director will next helm a horror film entitled DJINN, according to THR.

The film will be a haunted house thriller that follows “a young Emirati couple who return home from the U.S. and discover that their new apartment in a luxury high-rise built on the site of an abandoned fishing village is also home to malevolent beings known as Djinn.”

Based on a script by writter David Tully, the film is being backed by Imagenation Abu Dhabi, and according to the filmmaker himself, it “will scare everyone, no matter where you live or what you believe in.”

Personally, while Hooper has seen better days as a director, this sounds like a really interesting film. I’m a huge fan of the director, and this sounds like the exact type of project that he should be doing at this point. It has a really interesting premise, so here’s to hoping it can live up to its potential.
