After directing the Swedish adaptation of THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO, director Niels Arden Oplev has become a filmmaker to truly keep an eye out for.

Well, according to Production Weekly, he just got a little Hollywood A-list talent to back his next film. The outlet tweeted today that Tobey Maguire will produce Oplev’s upcoming adaptation of the Marcus Sakey novel, Good People, with a possibility of starring in the film as well.

The film will follow “a couple in debt from fertility treatments steals a stash of cash from their dead tenant’s apartment, putting them in jeopardy from criminals and police in search of the money.”

Now, the film’s premise sounds great, and while I wasn’t a huge fan of DRAGON TATTOO, the film is an absolute masterpiece visually, and if there is one thing Oplev can do, it is craft one hell of an impressive film. Maguire would be a great addition to the cast, as he would be to any cast, so hopefully that can fall into place.

Nonetheless, this is definitely going to be a film that we will be hearing more from, particularly with the massive popularity of the first GIRL film.
