Tom Cruise or James McAvoy? Universal and Guillermo Del Toro differing on choices for MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS
Talk about differing tastes.
With Guillermo Del Toro’s next film, AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS, set to shoot sometime next year, it looks like the director, and the studio backing his film, Universal, are on opposite ends of the spectrum with regards to who should star in the film.
According to Collider, Universal is looking to get James McAvoy in the starring role, while Del Toro is hoping that Tom Cruise will jump aboard his project. Now, with both actors heading franchise films next year, X-MEN: FIRST CLASS and M:I4 for McAvoy and Cruise respectively, don’t expect this film to get in front of cameras until May 2011, at the earliest. Personally, while I’m massively excited for this, or any Del Toro film, I do have to say, both choices are appealing to me. On one hand, I want to see Cruise get back to some interesting projects, and this would definitely fit that bill. Then however, I remember that McAvoy is one hell of a thespian, so I am torn between two fantastic choices.
What one would you like to see get the deal?
