Tom Ford working on a new film; world is now a much better place

While we may not know what the hell it is, or when we’ll see it, knowing that one of today’s most interesting filmmakers, albeit with only one film under his respective belt, is working on a new film is news in my book.

Speaking to Moviefone, actor Colin Firth (on the promotional trail for his Oscar front-runner, THE KING’S SPEECH), mentioned that Tom Ford, director of last year’s stunning masterpiece of a debut A SINGLE MAN, is indeed working on a new film. Apparently, it is going to “be very different from A SINGLE MAN,” but sadly will not star Colin Firth (at least at this point).

Now, that is literally all that we know about the film, other than it will be an original piece, unlike A SINGLE MAN, which saw him adapt Christopher Isherwood’s classic novel of the same name. The former creative director of such fashion houses as Yves Saint-Laurent and Gucci is staying mum about just what the film will truly be about, but honestly, all I need is his name and I’m excited.

A SINGLE MAN was an absolute visual wonder, that instead of being a film without substance, ultimately had an emotional core that was so resonant and moving, that it was truly a film from a massively talented, and even more assured filmmaker. I can’t wait for this thing.
