With Tom Hardy being cast as a potential villain character in the upcoming third film in Chris Nolan’s BATMAN run, the actor has become the “it” actor of this year.

According to The Playlist, Hardy is circling the upcoming film take on a spec script penned by Evan Daugherty, entitled SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN. Universal picked up the rights to the script last month, for a rather huge price tag of $1.5 million, and the film will be a “revisionist buddy movie spin on the tale, seeing the titular huntsman being hired by the evil queen to track down her runaway stepdaughter, the fairest in the land. When he realizes that the queen intends to kill Snow White, he helps her escape, and the pair go on the run.”

The project has been fast-tracked, and will be helmed by commercial director Rupert Sanders, who will be making his debut with this film. He himself has become a rather hot commodity, after being attached to the massively talked-about script THE LOW DWELLER, as well as being one of the possible directors for the Hunger Games adaptation.

Angelina Jolie is being looked at to play the film’s villain, Ravenna, and while that may or may not happen, particularly knowing that she will play a similar role in Tim Burton’s MALEFICENT, I can’t help but be massively interested in this film. I’m a huge, outspoken fan of Tom Hardy, and while I can’t speak as to the quality of this film’s director, I can say that Hardy is a very talented thespian, so anything he is attached to is something to watch out for.
