Tom Morello to rage against IRON MAN 2

It goes without saying that IRON MAN 2 is one of 2010's most anticipated summer blockbusters. But what would a good summer blockbuster be without some intense rock music and wailing guitar solos? Tom Morello (guitarist for Rage Against the Machine) has signed on to lay down some tracks with composer John Debney. Morello slammed on his whammy bar for the first film as well, so it's not surprising that he would rejoin Debney for IRON MAN 2.

Honestly, I'll admit this isn't that interesting. What is interesting, however, is the news that came out as a result of this announcement. Debney went to ye' old Twitter to release some of the track names for the score:

"'Ivan Theme' (Very large orchestra on top of Morello laden tracks), 'The Race,' (Whiplash's new theme) and of course 'Ironman's Theme' (and of course Ivan/Whiplash is Mickey Rourke's character)."

"Ivan Theme" sounds like a pretty casual and jaunty tune, while "The Race" will probably be all kinds of looming and intense. Also, I am getting the feeling that Mickey Rourke's biggest scene is going to be that racetrack fight we keep seeing in the trailers and photos. That seems pretty lame. If I wanted to see a tattooed hobo fighting a race car with his redneck whips of vengeance, I will just go to my uncle's house.

My only hope is that IRON MAN 2 still has some tricks up its sleeve and has only shown us a small amount of the Whiplash awesomeness. In the meantime, I'm going to listen to Rage Against the Machine's "Renegades" album and run around my house in my Iron Man footie pajamas.
