TOY STORY 3 writer to pen SNOW WHITE for Disney
With his last piece of work, the massively beloved capper to the TOY STORY franchise, TOY STORY 3, receiving a bit of love from awards groups, including a Best Picture Oscar nod, the film’s writer has just gotten a brand new gig.
THR is reporting that Michael Arndt and Disney are currently in talks that would see the writer jump aboard the studio’s upcoming take on the story of Snow White, entitled SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN.
The film is set to be helmed by one Francis Lawrence, with an original script penned by Scott Elder and Josh Harmon. SNOW WHITE will follow an Englishwoman who, after returning to her Hong Kong home for her father’s funeral, discovers that her stepmother is out for her. She teams up with a group of seven warriors in China, where she escapes to.
Personally, while the premise itself sounds a bit cartoonish, I do have a massive love for Arndt as a scribe, and Lawrence has proven himself to be more than a capable filmmaker. Natalie Portman was in talks to star, but with her pregnancy, that appears to not be the case anymore. If this is anything, it’s definitely an interesting step out of the box for the house of mouse. Hopefully it’s as good as Arndt’s last piece of writing.
