Trailer for CROPSEY guaranteed to give you chills
Documentaries aren’t often movies that’ll creep you out. Sure, ones like SUPERSIZE ME might make you gag. Or TAXI TO THE DARK SIDE might make you so angry you need prescription drugs. But CROPSEY looks like it might genuinely scare you. The trailer for this documentary just hit and it sure is creepy. Check it out, after the jump.
Legend has it, that the real life boogeyman lives on Staten Island. I’m pretty sure Ray Liotta played him in a movie once. Filmmakers Joshua Zeman and Barbara Brancaccio go out and search for information relating to Andre Rand, the serial killer responsible for the death of several young girls. They also mix in mythology surrounding Cropsey, the escaped mental patient who murders children in their sleep.
Sounds like a cheery film, no?
The trailer itself mixes in footage of the young girls, Andre Rand, and the New York borough to create an atmosphere reminiscent of SILENCE OF THE LAMBS. The real life footage of the filmmakers exploring the remains of warehouses and crumbling houses is a whole new breed of [REC] or PARANORMAL ACTIVITY creepiness, even if we’re not exactly sure what they’re doing in these abandoned buildings.
Regardless, I intend to check this out when it hits theaters. It’d probably worth seeing with an audience, so long as the ambient chills remain in the picture. Check this out when it hits on June 4th.
