Trailer for MR. POPPER’S PENGUINS hits
While much of the film world is still (and rightly) focused on the world of Marvel and their upcoming film, CAPTAIN AMERICA, Fox is attempting to steal a bit of that thunder.
The studio has just released the first trailer for their upcoming film adaptation of the 1938 children’s book, Mr. Popper’s Penguins (hat tip to Rope Of Silicon).
Starring Jim Carrey, Carla Gugino, Ophelia Lovibond, and Philip Baker Hall (with a turn by Angela Lansbury as well), the film follows a businessman who inherits six penguins, thus bringing on new issues at both work and home. Set to bow on June 17, the film is directed by MEAN GIRLS helmer Mark Water, and looks to be quite the interesting little film. Check it out after the break.
Personally, while I’m not huge on the trailer, it is really sweet, and I think it will be an interesting turn for the film’s star, Carrey. I’m a huge fan of his, and this cast as a whole is really fantastic, so while I’m not too interested in Water as a director, my hopes for the film as a whole are quite high.
