Trailer for PASSION PLAY hits
Featuring a relatively interesting mix of actors for its cast, the upcoming Mitch Glazer-directed film PASSION PLAY has a lot going for it. Starring Mickey Rourke as an aging trumpeter, the film follows his character as he comes into contact with a living, breathing angel, played by Megan Fox, while at a sideshow owned by Bill Murray. No joke.
Now, while the film may sound really interesting, coming out of its premiere at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival bruised and beaten from a cavalcade of absolutely dreadful reviews, the film has fallen from a hot indie commodity, to a film that will be hitting DVD 25 days after a limited, NY/LA theatrical release.
That all said, we do have a new trailer for the film (via ET), and honestly, you can kind of see a lot of what went wrong with a film like this.
Overall, the trailer is simply a mess. None of the film’s performances look worthwhile, and honestly, Megan Fox looks to be the crowning performance here, with both Murray and Rourke looking absolutely silly. Toss in a horrible soundtrack backing the trailer and a weird mix of tone and aesthetic, and this is an absolutely horrible trailer.
The film hits theaters on May 6, with a DVD release on May 31.
