The trailer for the STRAW DOGS remake has hit the web, giving us our first look at a film that many have already questioned its purpose in existing. After checking out the trailer, I can only say it looks a little more LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT remake meets the I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE remake meets HOME ALONE than Sam Peckinpah's classic starring Dustin Hoffman and Susan George. You can make up your own mind on whether you think that's a bad or good thing. But I will say this, I think it's safe to say this one won't be receiving the Criterion treatment.

This time around it's James Marsden and Kate Bosworth playing the married couple, as they relocate to her rural hometown and encounter a few locals who aren't exactly known for their Southern hospitality. Home invasion and defense via boiling water and nail guns ensue. Alexander Skarsgård and James Woods co-star in the film from writer/director Rod Lurie (THE LAST CASTLE).

Check out the trailer after the break to make your own assessments on the remake.
