Trailer for THE VIRGINITY HIT, well, hits

I hate teen comedies. Actually, if there is a feeling stronger than hate, then that is what I feel towards this laughless, uninteresting genre of “film.”

However, for some reason, after seeing the trailer for the upcoming Will Ferrell and Adam McKay produced film, THE VIRGINITY HIT, I think this may be an exception to that strict rule.

A rather lengthy red band trailer for the film has hit, and I do have to say, it looks kind of funny.  Sure, it’s basically THE 40 YEAR OLD VIRGIN by way of SUPERBAD, even down to the character archetypes, but while I didn’t care for either of those films, this one has a lot going for it. Check it out after the break.

Personally, I dig the premise, I dig the documentary visual style, and most importantly, I dig that the film seems to have a bit more heart behind it. It doesn’t seem like a raunchy comedy for the sake of raunchy comedy, something that the genre has become. My hopes aren’t massively high for this film, but it may be damning it with faint praise, but at least this thing has me interested.

This may be one to watch out for when it hits theaters on September 10.
