Trailer for THIS IS FORTY proves this looks good

John Mulhern

May 2nd, 2012

Judd Apatow is a major force in Hollywood comedy. After THE 40-YEAR OLD VIRGIN proved to be a huge success it gave him a platform to produce even more pictures, most of which also end up as quite successful. That hasn't stopped him from maintaining his writer/director aspirations, and he is currently working on a sort-of-sequel to KNOCKED UP called THIS IS FORTY.

Now there is a trailer out for the film, which you can check out after the break.

This trailer shows off exactly what Apatow does so well, which is finding the place in-between thoughtful, heartfelt drama and comedy. He has more than proven his worth at it with his past two films, and seems to be following that trend with this film. The trailer isn't laugh-packed, but I'm assuming we will get that on the next trailer.

I was a huge fan of Apatow's last film FUNNY PEOPLE, even though it was not very well received. From the looks of this trailer, he is going in a similar direction, but using some things he might have taken from his experience with FUNNY PEOPLE. Plus, who doesn't like Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann working together? They're a great combo that is sure to lead this film to great successes.
