Trailer for Woody Allen’s TO ROME WITH LOVE arrives, and charms
While it’s hard for it to be said that Allen’s most recent works are his heaviest pieces, it’s definitely easy to say that his past few features may be some of the best of his career to this point.
MIDNIGHT IN PARIS stole 2011 as one of the biggest and best surprises, playing as a light romp through the titular city, with Allen’s penchant for philosophizing spearheaded in there. And now he’s back, with what may be his best cast yet.
We’ve finally gotten a trailer for his next film, TO ROME WITH LOVE, and it is an absolute showstopper. The film stars Jesse Eisenberg, Greta Gerwig, Roberto Begnini, Judy Davis, Alec Baldwin and Penelope Cruz and follows a collection of residents and tourists as they travel through Rome. The film will bow on June 22 here stateside, so expect a lot more on the film soon, but in the meantime, check out this absolute gem of a trailer. Again, the film may look a little light on drama, but it also looks like perfectly distilled Allen. And I can’t wait for it.
