Halle Berry

About a month ago, we learned that not only would Halle Berry’s next film, FRANKIE & ALICE, be getting a release this year, but that buzz around the performance was so hot that the actress had jumped to the forefront of Oscar talk surrounding the Best Actress category.

Well, now we have the first trailer for the film, and while it doesn’t shake the earth the way the film was proclaimed as doing (and the more recent buzz behind the film is equally as stagnant) it does give us an interesting look at what to expect from the film. Check it out after the break.

The key here are the performances. Featuring a cast including Berry, Stellan Skarsgard, Chandra Wilson, and Phylicia Rashad, the film is definitely an acting piece, with a much more subtle hand than most films these days. That said, there is something about the trailer that just doesn’t work for me. I’m sure the film is a fine piece of work, but at this point, I can’t help but think that this is one that’s going to be lost amongst the great slate of Oscar pictures that we are currently trying to sift through.

I’m thinking it’ll be a case of a great leading performance – and some fine supporting work – in a terrible film.
