John Carpenter is a legendary horror film director, despite a string of poor movies in the recent past. His latest film, THE WARD, looks like it could be a return to form in his glory days of HALLOWEEN and THE FOG.

Set in 1966 Oregon, THE WARD finds Amber Heard’s Kristen being packed off to a mental asylum under mysterious circumstances. Once in the asylum, she befriends four other female patients (Danielle Panabaker, Mamie Gummer, Lyndsy Fonseca, and Laura Leigh), but their fun gets cut short when a mysterious ghost suddenly starts killing asylum residents.

On Monday, Josh gave us a glimpse of the film’s trailer, and today we have the full version. Watch the full trailer after the break.

The film has gotten mixed reviews on the festival circuit and in its limited release in Belgium. Our own Chase Whale had scarce little good to say about it in his TIFF review.

It’s set to be released in the UK on January 21. No U.S. release date has been set yet.

The budget of this film could have funded every movie project on Kickstarter 3x.
