Love yourself some robots? The new trailer for TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON not doing it for you? Well, thanks to Dreamworks, we have the first trailer for the upcoming robot boxing film, REAL STEEL. And I must say, it’s not all that impressive.

Starring Hugh Jackman, the film is directed by Shawn Levy, and follows a father-son team who train a robot to win a boxing title. Jackman’s character is a former champ himself, and the actor is going to be joined by Anthony Mackie, Evangeline Lilly, Kevin Durand, and Dakota Goyo, who will play the role of Jackman’s son. Check out the first trailer and some of my thoughts on it after the break.

Ultimately, the film looks fine, with interesting-looking robots, but this trailer does absolutely nothing to either make me excited, or kill any anticipation I may have for the film (which is nearly zero anyway). The film was only made for $80 million, which I guess is impressive, but then again, I’d be shocked if this film (unless it gets some legs near release time) really has a shot to do gangbusters.

That all said, I’m always down for some robot boxing matches. So count me very cautiously optimistic.
