TRANSFORMERS 3 possibly subtitled THE DARK OF THE MOON?
The TRANSFORMERS series is a curious beast. For one, fanboys everywhere rejoiced at the thought of their childhood toys and TV shows brought to life by the masturbatory filmmaking of Michael Bay. The first film was somewhat of a pop culture phenomenon, as it resulted in the rampant optioning of toy franchises and board games. It wasn't until the second film that attitudes began to shift; hard core fans still loved the second one and praised it for being longer and having more drawn-out fights, but critics railed on it for being ridiculous, over the top, and sillier than ever.
When I say ridiculous, over the top, and sillier than ever, I hope that those words only apply to the first two films. The third installment is currently in production and we're just getting a few hints as to what the title for Bay's follow up to TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN might be. Hit the jump for more information.
Apparently, there is a series of three books based on the TRANFORMERS films on Amazon that are available for pre-order. Speculation says that this next series of books will follow the story of the third film, and we can therefore assume that the subtitle of these books will mirror the subtitle for the film.
These books are all titled Transformers: The Dark of the Moon, all with respective subtitles including Invasion of the Decepticons, Secrets of the Autobots, and Autobots Betrayed. Apparently the assumption is that the next Transformers film will be titled TRANSFORMERS: THE DARK OF THE MOON. I'm having trouble believing that any P&A department would EVER allow a title like this to actually exist. Then again, they re-hired Bay for a third film; anything is possible.
