Two new projects confirmed for Viola Davis
Viola Davis was relatively unknown before a getting an Oscar nomination for her performance in DOUBT. Davis was only in two scenes and only spoke in one of them in the film, but her performance was so powerful when she was on the screen that she deserved the nomination.
Now it's hard not to notice Davis whenever she pops up in a film, reminding us not only of her strong performance in DOUBT, but that she is a very gifted actress. Well, Viola Davis has just signed on for two more projects to notice her in, IT'S KIND OF A FUNNY STORY and TRUST.
IT'S KIND OF A FUNNY STORY is the new project from Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden, who made the critically well-received films, HALF NELSON and SUGAR. Davis will be playing the psychiatrist that helps the depressed teenager at the center of the story.
TRUST is a drama set to be directed David Schwimmer that examines a family dealing with the aftermath of their 14 year old being taken advantage of by an internet predator. Catherine Keener and Clive Owen recently signed on to the project to play the parents, and Davis will play a counselor.
Both projects sound like solid investments for a talented actress like Viola Davis.
