From TV comedy star, to big screen commodity, actor Ty Burrell has had one hell of a calendar year.

After nabbing roles in films like GOATS and BUTTER, as well as the upcoming JACKIE BROWN prequel thing SWITCH, the Modern Family star has lined up his biggest role yet, taking over for one of film’s biggest stars.

THR is reporting that Robert Downey Jr. has left the upcoming animated film, MR. PEABODY AND SHERMAN, with Burrell replacing him as Sherman. The film, currently being housed over at Dreamworks, follows the dog/human duo on their adventures through time.  Best known for being part of the Rocky and Bullwinkle Show, the duo’s film will be in 3D, and easily the biggest role yet for one Burrell.

Personally, as a person who was in love with their Bullwinkle shorts, I do really look forward to the film, but have so much trepidation in giving over any sort of anticipation to a film that I can see fail in so many ways.

What about you?
