Uma Thurman’s MOTHERHOOD crashes and burns in UK

I have to admit that this story is kinda funny and I giggled when I read it, but I’m not writing this with any sense of schadenfreude. I love Uma Thurman. She’s the Bride, she’s Mia Wallace, I want good things for her. Unfortunately, MOTHERHOOD was not good for her career.

The movie opened in the US back in October, but managed to rake in $50 thousand. That’s a pretty dismal number, but nothing when you compare it to its UK opening weekend in early March. The movie made £88, which is equivalent to about $130. Adding insult to injury, on Sunday only one person went to see it. Ouch.

You can see the trailer for the film below. It looks awful, but no more awful than other movies that have done much better at the box office. The reason the film bombed in England is because of a disastrous marketing technique. The producers thought it would be a good idea to release it in only one theater, hoping that it would cause buzz and lines around the block. Instead, only about 12 people saw the movie and it quickly disappeared from theaters.

Uma Thurman plays a mother of two having a chaotic day in Motherhood. The Back-up Plan features Jennifer Lopez as a single woman desperate to have a child and this movie has bombed at the box office in Britain

I had seen some headlines about this a few days ago or whenever the story first broke. When I read something along the lines of “MOTHERHOOD Makes $130 in UK Box Office,” I thought $130 million. ha. Wow.
