Universal developing BAIT AND SWITCH for Mark Wahlberg
With the films CONTRABAND and TED currently being set up at Universal for THE FIGHTER star Mark Wahlberg, the studio has just nabbed yet another project, to develop for the actor.
Coming off what can best be described as one hell of a year (with turns in DATE NIGHT, THE OTHER GUYS and THE FIGHTER), the actor is currently slated to star in BAIT AND SWITCH, a new spec project that the studio has picked up, according to Variety.
Penned by Matthew J. O’Neill, the film is an action-comedy, and that’s exactly everything that we know about this project. O’Neill is a rookie writer, at least if his IMDb page is to be believed, so the fact that Universal appears to be setting this project up as a major one in their slate is quite interesting. Wahlberg’s 2011 doesn’t appear to be huge, but with this film inching closer to production, Universal and Wahlberg could have a really big 2012 as CONTRABAND and TED are both slated for 2012 releases.
