Universal rebooting THE WOLFMAN again?

Apparently fans weren’t the only ones to think that Universal’s last attempt at bringing back their werewolf franchise in the form of THE WOLFMAN, utterly failed.

Moviehole is reporting that Universal is set to reboot the franchise one more time, and could shoot the film sometime later this year.

Apparently, writer Michael Tabb has penned a screenplay that will “share a link” to the iconic 1941 film, THE WOLF MAN, and is currently titled WEREWOLF. Directors are being met with over the next few weeks, and casting will begin shortly thereafter.

With films like TWILIGHT and the new Teen Wolf TV show, as well as something like True Blood, werewolves are very much a popular thing today, and this is not at all a shocking move on the part of Universal. I find the timing to be a bit weird, but with how horrible that film and its production was, a WOLFMAN reboot could be great for the studio. That all said, here’s to hoping that this can at least be better than that Joe Johnston flick.
