UPDATED WITH TRAILER: First poster for FOOTLOOSE remake hits the web
With the first trailer for Craig Brewer's (BLACK SNAKE MOAN, HUSTLE & FLOW) modern-day FOOTLOOSE said to be hitting the web this evening, MTV has debuted the first poster for the remake from Paramount. It's pretty much just a dude hanging out on top of a yellow VW Beetle. You know, like dudes tend to do.
That dude happens to be Kenny Wormald (YOU GOT SERVED), who takes over the role and dancing shoes of Ren McCormack - made famous by Kevin Bacon 27 years ago. The film also stars Julianne Hough (ROCK OF AGES, BURLESQUE) as Ariel Moore and Dennis Quaid as her father, the good Reverend Shaw Moore who bans dancing and rock music in their town.
I'm curious how that will translate into today's times, as it was a bit more believable in 1984 that a small-minded small town like this would exist. Sadly, there likely are a few places in America that are still trapped in a '50s state-of-mind so it may not be so hard to believe. Come on, people! Just kick off your Sunday shoes and go dance in a factory as a saxophone solo plays ominously in the background...it's so freeing!
Wormald looking extra crispy as a Bacon-esque Ren McCormack.
Her dad probably doesn't approve of this.
