UPDATED: Diane Lane joins Zack Snyder’s SUPERMAN
UPDATE: Warner Bros. has just released an official press release that Lane has indeed joined the cast as Martha Kent.
With the film slowly creeping its way to production, the cast for the upcoming Zack Snyder directed-take on Superman is starting to fill out.
Deadline is reporting that WB has tapped Diane Lane to take on the role of Martha Kent, the earthbound mother of our titular hero.
Lane joins Henry Cavill as the only actors confirmed for the film, with the press release not mentioning Kevin Costner, who has been linked to the role of “Pa” Kent, Martha’s husband.
Snyder’s film has seen a bit of a problem with regards to its screenplay; while that may not ultimately bode well for the film, with the team of Emma Thomas and hubby Chris Nolan producing (along with Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder), my fears are definitely low. I’ve been a huge fan of most of what I’ve seen from Snyder, and the addition of Lane is a perfect one with regards to the role of “Ma” Kent. She fits this role so perfectly, that if Costner is confirmed to play her husband, it will be relatively perfect casting for two really important roles.
