Edward Zwick is probably most distinguished as a director by his period epics THE LAST SAMURAI, GLORY and LEGENDS OF THE FALL. However, with his latest film Zwick is working in a genre that it is light on his resume, the romantic-comedy. Although, the film is more serious than the basic rom-com, as it tackles the idea of falling in love with someone who has what seems to be a terminal disease. The subject is not surprising given that Zwick does tend to gravitate to the serious (genocide, military cover up, war). Also, LOVE AND OTHER DRUGS does have traces of a period of film but the time period is very recent, 1996.

Recently, I interviewed and Zwick about his new film that shows traces of the standard Zwick, while the director simultaneously plays in some unusual ground for him as far as genre. Check out the interview below, I'm pretty sure Brad Pitt would want you to (Zwick TOTALLY directed him in a movie).

Special thanks goes to video editor Adam Conway.
