“The first time you meet Justin, no matter what, it's always crazy.”

Last week, I had the pleasure of sitting down with director Jon M. Chu while he was in town for the NYC premiere of Justin Bieber’s NEVER SAY NEVER. During Part I of our interview, Jon discusses why he embarked on the project, his first time meeting with the one and only Biebs, and the decision to shoot in 3D.

Jon shares with us on Bieber: His mom recorded him since he was little, what other generation can you watch your superstar learn music, learn to walk, and have so much record of where they came from?" Belieb it or not, YouTube has only been around for 5 years! Hard to believe when the social video site has become such a huge part of our lives and is the key factor in Bieber’s rise to stardom.

By using the tools of YouTube, Jon tells us, “Justin was able to be chosen by the fans themselves, not by a corporation, not by a TV show, just by people at home in their living rooms...This is a story of our time, using technology of our time and we can tell the story using technology of our time with 3D."

Check out the video below to hear more, and stay tuned throughout the week as we unravel more details leading up to the theatrical release of NEVER SAY NEVER opening this Friday, February 11th!
